When something is “renewed” it means to: make better, change, strengthen, to prepare for a further task. When a conscious decision is made not to renew, this can be a sign of refusal, apathy, or advocating a position of literal downward decline. As Lutherans, we are a part of a reforming tradition. Through centering alone on the Word of God, Martin Luther set off to renew the Church for God’s mission to be done in the world.
